Tuesday 1st July

Kyle of Lochalsh – Eilean Donan Castle. Portree, Skye – Tour of Trotternish with refreshments at the Flodigarry Hotel.

The iconic Eilean Donan played a role in the Jacobite rising which ultimately culminated in the castle’s destruction. Sailing over the sea to Skye, we tour the Trotternish peninsula and the striking memorial to Jacobite heroine, Flora MacDonald, before visiting the Flodigarry Hotel, part of which was Flora’s home.

Wednesday 2nd July

Portree, Skye – Free time to explore at leisure. Armadale, Skye – Armadale Castle and Clan Donald Centre.

Explore colourful Portree, from where the Prince took a boat to Raasay and onwards a passage back to France, before discovering the epic history of Clan Donald at Armadale Castle, the venue of Flora’s wedding in 1750.

Thursday 3rd July

Craignure, Mull – Duart Castle. Sail the Sound of Mull and Loch Linnhe to Corpach.

The Macleans of Duart Castle were great Jacobite supporters, which ultimately resulted in the clan losing all their lands.

Corpach – Glenfinnan Monument Visitor Centre. Corpach – Glencoe Visitor Centre.

The Glenfinnan Monument was built in 1815 as a tribute to ‘the generous zeal and undaunted bravery’ of those Highlanders who ‘fought and bled in that arduous and unfortunate enterprise’.

Thursday 5th June

Transit Neptune’s Staircase and cruise the Caledonian Canal to Gairlochy. Gairlochy – Clan Cameron Museum.

Experience the dramatic landscape of Glencoe, regarded by many as a natural monument to the infamous massacre of February 1692, and tour the Clan Cameron Museum to learn of the clan’s part in the Jacobite story.

Cruise the Caledonian Canal and Loch Ness. Inverness – Culloden and Clava Cairns.

A scenic sail of Loch Ness leads us to our final visit of Culloden, the infamous battlefield where Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Jacobite forces were defeated in 1746.
